John, our mental health and addiction crisis will not be solved until every single Oregonian has access to care, no matter where they live or what they can afford.
In my conversations with folks around the state, I’ve heard time and time again that health care providers struggle to meet their community’s needs.
I’ve also heard from people who’ve considered a career in behavioral health care, but don’t have access to affordable educational opportunities or face long wait times for certification or licensure.
We need to keep increasing capacity, both for treatment beds and for providers. We can do it — but only with continued investment.
That’s why my recommended budget sets aside $90 million to build hundreds more treatment beds and $50 million to support a strong behavioral health workforce.
These are just two key strategies of my efforts to improve mental health care and addiction treatment over the next two years — but they can only happen with the state legislature approving my latest budget.
John, will you add your name to become an official supporter of my proposed budget and planned investments to solve the behavioral health crisis?
Thank you,
Tina
