While I wish I could knock on your door and ask you this, I still mean it sincerely from the bottom of my heart.

When I first ran for Senate, no one gave me a chance of winning. I was up against a Republican incumbent, and I was a 29-year-old kid.

But that didn’t discourage me for one second. I put together the hardest working, scrappiest campaign there ever was. My sister was my campaign manager (and by the way, she did a great job).

We spent hours each day hitting the pavement, passing out fliers. We didn’t have money for fancy radio ads. We had a team of dedicated volunteers who helped get my message out there.

And fundraising? We did that by going door-to-door, meeting voters face-to-face, and earning their hard-earned money. Some people could only chip in a little bit, and I understood what that sacrifice meant to them.

John, while my campaign for president might look a lot different than my first campaign for Senate, I’m still proud that to this day to rely on grassroots donations.

There’s a misconception in the media that we are funded by mega-donors, and that couldn’t be further from the truth. 70% of this campaign was funded by grassroots support in March. And in April, our average online donation was just $32.63.

So while I wish I could knock on your door and ask you this, I still mean it sincerely from the bottom of my heart: If you are able to, could you chip in $10 to my campaign and the DNC today?

If every person who receives this email chips in what they can, we’ll be able to show guys like Donald Trump what Americans can do when we band together, stand up, and fight.

Thank you. I won’t forget this.
