John,
While we’re so close to passing the Social Security Fairness Act, we aren’t there yet. I want to make sure you know what happened yesterday.
This bill has finally cleared two major procedural hurdles in the Senate. Two more to go—rejecting amendments, then passing the bill.
That means the final vote could happen as soon as today. But Elon Musk is acting like the shadow president and inserting chaos into the whole process. We can’t let his games derail this bill.
So far, we’ve driven thousands of letters and phone calls to the Senate. Now we need more. Even if you’ve already called, would you call the Senate again? Let’s make sure the senators know we need them to pass the Social Security Fairness Act today.
The Social Security Fairness Act ensures that Americans who have paid into Social Security receive their Social Security. But because of loopholes, some public employees, including firefighters, teachers and others, are excluded from Social Security even if they paid into it. We have made the case, and now more than two-thirds of the Senate—a huge bipartisan majority—supports this bill.
Click here to call the Senate. Tell them to pass the bill, as it is, without amendments, right away.
In unity,
Randi Weingarten
