As most of you may know, Idaho has a part time legislature. They are generally in session from early January to early April. You may also know that this doesn't mean they stop working throughout the year. There was a citizen's committee who recommended a pay increase by 43% which is wild. Did you get a 43% raise? Luckily that got shot down to 22% but that is still too high. Have you gotten a 22% pay raise? Over the past several years, we've railed against various committee chairs for refusing to hear some great bills (looking at you Guthrie, Yamamoto, etc) while other chairs actually did hear great bills (looking at Rep. Brent Crane and some others... thank you!) It's been a mixed bag. However, this pay raise doesn't just reward the good chairs and good legislators, it rewards the bad ones too. They should not be rewarded for keeping good bills in their drawers so we are asking you to use the handy little Email Idaho tool to let them know that you want a resolution brought forth to stop this pay increase. |
