With anti-LGBTQ+ legislation on the rise, we know next year won’t be easy. State-based organizations across the country are working tirelessly to prepare for 2025. In the months ahead, they will need to show up at their state capitals, draft proactive legislation, and mobilize their communities to defend our rights. 


The opposition spent over $215 million on anti-trans advertisements during the election, but we’re putting our resources where they matter most—in the hands of the advocates doing the work on the ground. It’s good to remember that about 92% of anti-LGBTQ bills introduced this year did not become law, and we’re planning to keep it that way. 

We’ve already sent $153,000 in pre-session grants to 20 state partners to support their legislative efforts—and this is just the beginning. Your support fuels the comprehensive legislative programs that strengthen state advocacy efforts and protect LGBTQ+ rights. Here’s what we’re doing to prepare for the critical fights ahead:

• Expanding our Emergent Needs Fund to offer rapid-response grants during session, ensuring state organizations can adapt to emerging challenges in real time.
• Resourcing our Paid Call Fund, which drove 6,730 calls to targeted legislators this year, helping defeat anti-LGBTQ+ bills and support proactive legislation.
• Deepening our organizing support and working to train our state partners for the upcoming legislative session through our Project Game Changer program.
