The United States Postal Service is vital to the everyday function of our society — and with so many at home, this has never been more true. However, the strain of COVID-19 on the Postal Service and its workers requires Federal assistance to continue to function swiftly and safely.

Our postal workers are on the front lines of this pandemic. I see our postal workers every day delivering support to our communities and businesses so that we can continue to function — and now we must show them our support in return.

We must stand up to the White House and deliver the relief the Postal Service needs — not only to survive but to thrive.

Instead of fully supporting the Postal Service in the CARES Act as they dealt with the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic, President Trump threatened to veto that version of the stimulus package and instead included a $10 billion loan that requires approval by the Treasury Department.

The House returned to the Capitol last week to pass our next stimulus bill, the HEROES Act, which included much-needed funding for state and local governments, and the USPS. The Senate and this Administration must now act to get funding to these vital institutions that make our communities function.
