We all saw it happen. A Congressional spending bill was poised to pass the House—until Elon Musk intervened, ensuring its failure. In effect, Musk is acting as a De Facto President, while Trump looks to Musk like a child seeking approval from a parent. It’s sad. It’s weak. And it’s dangerously unfit for leadership.

We know what we’re up against with Trump, and we’re prepared for that fight. But if Elon Musk is pulling the strings behind the scenes, we face a new and more insidious challenge. It’s one we must confront with courage and resolve.

I understand. After November, many of us feel exhausted. The fight for democracy takes its toll. But that’s exactly what MAGA is counting on—they want you to feel worn out, discouraged, and ready to quit. To them, our fatigue is their victory. If we step back, they move forward unchecked.

But here’s the truth: we are the checks and balances. We are the ones who fight. We are the ones who make the difference. This is no time to rest—it’s time to rise.

Our Constitution needs defenders. Our democracy needs protectors. And our country needs you. Starting in January, Country First will release a guide to effective advocacy in this Trump 2.0 era. It’s a blueprint for action, and we’ll need every one of you to join us in this fight.

The mission is serious. The stakes are high. But together, we can make an impact that matters. It’s time to mobilize. It’s time to act. It’s time to win.
