Good morning, JOHN,

Even though Biden is still President and the US Senate is controlled by the Democrats until early next year, President-Elect Trump and the Republicans are facing their first big test right now with a bill that is needed to fund the government for the next few months.
Help Close the Campaign Debt ([link removed])
Thankfully, a 1,500 page, very expensive, (CR) was voted down earlier this week. This came after concerns about the cost of the bill were raised from President Trump, Elon Musk, and the Freedom Caucus. They exposed what was in the CR bill, including a hidden pay raise for Congress.

A new CR bill was brought forward and voted on last night that removed much of the waste, but called for a huge increase in the debt ceiling.

That bill also did not pass. All but two Democrats voted against the bill because it didn't have the excess spending that they wanted. In addition, several dozen Republicans voted against it mainly because of the increase in the debt limit without meaningful cuts.

The fact is, our country is $37 trillion in debt with payments on the debt of about $1 trillion per year. We are spending more on just the interest on the debt than we are spending on the military and Medicare combined.(1) This is not sustainable, we are bankrupting our future, and many Republicans are working to start the process to balance the budget now.

Another bill will be introduced today and needs to be passed by midnight in order to avoid a government shutdown. I encourage you to pray for Speaker Johnson, Congress, and President-Elect Trump to be wise at this time as their record, fair or not, begins now.
