The Extremism Roundup

Focused on Evidence Instead of Narratives
A weekly compilation of the most important developments in the struggle against radical ideologies

A Word From the CEO

Dear Reader,

This week has been marked by a series of alarming events highlighting the persistent threat of extremism and foreign influence in the U.S. From the sentencing of a Virginia man for using cryptocurrency to finance ISIS to a deadly school shooting in Madison, Wisc., where three individuals lost their lives, the spectrum of domestic extremism continues to expand. Additionally, a Vermont teen was charged with making bomb threats against his former school, underscoring the ongoing concern for school safety.

On the international front, a CIA analyst faces charges for leaking sensitive information about an Israeli military strike plan on Iran, while TikTok battles to remain operational in the U.S. amid national security concerns. These incidents, coupled with hate crimes like the vandalism of an LGBT pub in Santa Cruz, illustrate a week where domestic and foreign threats intersect, challenging national security, community safety, and the integrity of our digital and physical spaces.

Sincerely,

RIchard Green
