Destiny’s story reminds me of what fuels our work: trust, consistency, and tangible care. I work on the finance team at Love146, and I see the receipts come in from the field for those chai lattes, winter coats, bus passes, and diapers. When I see those receipts—those simple things that YOU, our supporters, are providing—I know they’re meeting kids exactly where their needs are. Each of these small, tangible things—things you make possible—helps a young person put their life back together after human trafficking.
Every gift matters—big and small. The most common gift we see is $25. Sometimes I process a cash gift for just one dollar. Once, we received an anonymous one-dollar donation with nothing but a hand-drawn heart where the return address would go. I was so moved by such a simple gesture that I decided it needed a photo with our office stuffed bear, Wally.
