The Labor Movement Fights On

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

Throughout history, workers have faced every obstacle imaginable when we have tried to empower ourselves. And yet, our Labor Movement has persisted.

While the Presidential election results were not what we had hoped, our fate has never been in the hands of politicians.

It has always been up to working people to demand what we deserve—a voice on the job, basic respect, safe workplaces, a living wage, a dignified retirement and a union contract. We may face new threats, but the path to victory has not changed. We must help organize all workers to empower themselves.

Here in California, our unions defied expectations in the elections. We held a critical swing seat in Congress and flipped three seats to pro-worker representatives. We won by listening to our members and focusing on the issues they care about.

Californians continue to support unions more than ever before and we will not be ignored, shunned or discounted by anyone.

I hope you get some much deserved rest and relaxation this holiday season. May you and your family enjoy a very Merry Christmas and happy holidays.

In Solidarity,

Lorena
