John,
Whose interests does Tulsi Gabbard really represent?
Russian state media has openly referred to Trump’s nominee for Director of National Intelligence (DNI) as “our girlfriend.” Why would Putin’s propaganda machine use such an endearing term for the individual Trump has chosen to lead U.S. Intelligence?
The role of DNI is pivotal. This person advises the President, the National Security Council, and the Homeland Security Council, overseeing the CIA, NSA, Defense Intelligence Agency, and 15 other intelligence agencies with a combined budget of $100 billion. It’s one of the most sensitive positions in the entire government, shaping national security strategy and safeguarding classified information.
Yet Trump’s pick, Tulsi Gabbard, has a troubling history of echoing Kremlin propaganda. Former staffers say she regularly consumes Russian disinformation, and amplifies it publicly. She has blamed the U.S. for Putin’s invasion of Ukraine and dismissed reliable U.S. intelligence confirming that Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad used chemical weapons against civilians.
Even some Republicans are wary. “Behind closed doors, people think she might be compromised,” one GOP aide told The Hill. “It’s not hyperbole. There are members of our conference who think she’s a [Russian] asset.” But Trump himself repeatedly claims he trusts Putin more than U.S. intelligence, and he called the invasion of Ukraine “genius.” Why not pick one of Putin’s agents to provide his daily intelligence briefing?
Trump’s decision to nominate Tulsi Gabbard for DNI puts America’s national security in real jeopardy. It’s a move that invites Russian influence into the heart of the U.S. intelligence apparatus. The Senate must reject her nomination to protect the nation.
Take action now and send a direct message to the Senate: Tulsi Gabbard must never be confirmed as Director of National Intelligence!
The stakes couldn’t be higher. The DNI doesn’t just oversee intelligence gathering -- this person directly shapes the President’s understanding of global threats and alliances, influencing how the U.S. engages with the world.
Nearly 100 former senior diplomats and national security officials from both parties have called for closed-door hearings to evaluate Gabbard’s nomination. These experts are deeply alarmed, saying her actions “call into question her ability to deliver unbiased intelligence briefings to the President, Congress, and to the entire national security apparatus.”
Retired intelligence officer Doug Loudon told ABC News that Gabbard’s behavior could stem from “naïveté, collusion, or politically motivated sycophancy.” Regardless of the cause, her unreliability makes her unfit to lead the nation’s intelligence agencies.
The question remains: How can someone so closely tied to Russian narratives be trusted with America’s most sensitive secrets? Trump’s track record suggests he looks up to Putin and has no trouble putting a Putin-friendly perspective at the heart of national intelligence. Our worry is that the Kremlin’s “girlfriend” may engage in more than friendly “pillow talk.”
Protect the integrity of U.S. intelligence: Send a message to the Senate now to reject Tulsi Gabbard’s nomination!
Thank you for helping to protect the national security of the United States.
