Team,
In case you haven’t been keeping up with the news this week, I’m here to fill you in:
Trump and House Republicans led by Elon Musk just killed a critical spending package that would have funded disaster relief, economic assistance for farmers, and so much more.
Now, we’re facing a potential government shutdown unless a deal is reached before midnight tomorrow. Here in California, refusing to pass the spending bill will cost billions of dollars, including an estimated $2 billion for California farmers.
This is exactly what we’ve come to expect from the Republican party. Except now, they’re letting the wealthiest man in the world, unelected Elon Musk, lead the charge to line their own pockets at the expense of American families, veterans, and seniors.
In case that wasn’t clear, the wealthiest man in the world, who holds NO elected office and who receives government subsidies for FOUR of his companies, should not have the power to strip critical assistance for working families.
I’ve spent my career fighting for the working class as a labor rights attorney, and in Congress, that experience has led my efforts to continue protecting our communities. Come January, I’m ready to take on the Trump-Musk administration. I’ll also be working to set the groundwork for 2026 victories because we’re stronger in numbers.
