Dear Friend,
Through your generosity, Cultural Survival supports Indigenous communities' advocacy and development projects. Will you help us continue this work and meet the needs of our partners? ([link removed])
Our Keepers of the Earth Fund (KOEF) ([link removed]) awards grants that go directly to Indigenous communities, collectives, organizations, and governments to support their self-designed development projects based on their Indigenous values. In 2024, KOEF's eighth year of operations, we supported 83 Indigenous projects and collectives for a total amount of $614,222. The funds were sent directly to Indigenous communities, collectives, and grassroots organizations in 25 countries.
Your support to Indigenous-led projects and leadership is vital ([link removed]) for ensuring a more just and sustainable future. We believe that Indigenous Peoples are the ones who best know their problems and solutions, which is why we support projects designed and managed by Indigenous members of the same community that the project will serve, identifying and using their own values. Learn about a few of our 2024 grant partners below and their amazing work!
San Francisco Suc Tuc, Maya (Mexico)

In a previous project funded by KOEF, the community of San Francisco Suc Tuc/Hopelchen, Campeche worked to promote autonomy as a form of community organization. With this first project, the Community Council was recognized as an autonomous authority and a first version of the community statutes were produced. This year as a 2024 grant partner, the goal is to exercise autonomy by strengthening the Council, revising the statutes, demanding the right to receive direct funding, and promoting the participation of multiple generations, specifically children, women, and youth.
Viypereku Integral Education Consultant, Mojeño Trinitario (Bolivia)
The communal authorities, teachers, and parents in the educational districts of Trinidad and San Ignacio de Mojos, department of Beni, expressed the need for more educational materials in the Mojeño Trinitario language to teach students in their own language in order to strengthen their cultural identity. To fill this need, they are carrying out a project to spotlight the Mojeño Trinitario language and culture in a new educational curriculum. Language booklets will be produced for different education levels in coordination with the Elders and the Indigenous authorities. After the booklets are printed, a workshop will be held to train teachers on their use.
Your support is vital for sustaining this work, and investing in an Indigenous-led future creates a better world for us all! If you haven’t yet, please help us reach our end-of-year goal! ([link removed])
Our board of directors has generously committed to match all donations through December 31 up to our year-end goal of $250,000! ([link removed]) This is your chance to double the impact of your support!

Cultural Survival advocates for Indigenous Peoples' rights and supports Indigenous communities’ self-determination, cultures and political resilience since 1972. We envision a future that respects and honors Indigenous Peoples' inherent rights and dynamic cultures, deeply and richly interwoven in lands, languages, spiritual traditions, and artistic expression, rooted in self-determination and self-governance.
