No parent should fear sending their child to school, and no child should feel unsafe in a classroom. Yet, Monday’s tragic school shooting in Wisconsin reminds us of the urgent need to better protect the spaces where our children are supposed to be learning, not living in fear. My heart breaks for the families of the victims, and the students who will carry this with them for the rest of their lives.

The safety of our children must be the top priority. As the threat of gun violence in schools continues, so must our actions to prevent school shootings in Congress.
Join me in calling for more straightforward, common-sense gun safety laws that will help prevent these horrific events! Measures such as universal background checks, safe storage requirements, and red flag laws can save lives without infringing on rights.
