Hi John,

I handed Miles O’Brien a gas mask as we headed up the street. “Trust me, you’ll need it,” I told him after seeing the puzzled look on his face.

I was showing Miles, a reporter with PBS Newshour, how we find and stop invisible but highly toxic methane emissions – sometimes right next to homes and kids' schools.

Then Maddi Chaussard, a neighborhood mom of four, walked up to see what we were up to. I showed her the leaking gas from the tank. She told us what living next to it is like:

“The smell is so bad that it wakes me out of my sleep and it gives me stomach aches and headaches. That video of chemicals pouring out is evidence to what I’ve been feeling for the last three years.”

Earthworks doesn’t have mega donors but we do have caring supporters like you. Help us go toe-to-toe with Big Oil and Gas companies and win battles that force them to clean up their mess and stop poisoning families.

Maddi is like so many people we meet – regular people confused about why they feel sick when they go outside or keep their windows open or why their water is polluted.

They don’t get help when they call the Big Oil and Gas companies responsible for drilling across the street or leaky storage tanks across from a school.

But they do get help from Earthworks. There is no other nonprofit better prepared or positioned to fight off Big Oil and Gas’s attempts to expand their toxic operations and sicken more people and wildlife, and pollute our water and the air we breathe.

I’m proud to fight for people like Maddi and her kids–and frontline communities around the country. With your help, we can defeat Big Oil and Gas companies and help families keep from getting sick. And that matters so much.
