98% of Starbucks baristas have voted to authorize a strike. Now they need your help this holiday season.

John,

We are emailing with the following important message from Starbucks Workers United (SWU):

Starbucks baristas are at the bargaining table, and they need our help to win the fair raises, benefits and staffing levels they deserve. They’re also hoping to resolve hundreds of unfair labor practices.

A huge majority of workers from the more than 100 Starbucks stores who voted to join the union—98%!—just voted to authorize a strike.

Can you join an emergency call with SWU tonight, Thursday, Dec. 19, at 8:30 p.m. ET?

Starbucks workers will be sharing ways you can stand in solidarity to support these baristas this holiday season.

Here’s the issue in a nutshell:

“Right now, I’m making $16.50 an hour. Meanwhile, [Starbucks Chief Executive Officer (CEO)] Brian Niccol’s compensation package is worth $57,000 an hour. The company just announced I’m only getting a 2.5% raise next year—$0.40 an hour, which is one Starbucks drink per week. Starbucks needs to invest in the baristas who make Starbucks run.”

—Silvia Baldwin, Philadelphia barista

When we stand together, we win. It’s crucial that Starbucks management see that their customers are paying attention while workers are at the negotiating table this week.

Are you tired of watching greedy CEOs rake in the cash while workers are barely getting by? Join us tonight to show your support for Starbucks workers and learn how you can help! RSVP here.

Thank you for all you do for workers!

In solidarity,

Team AFL-CIO
