We can’t believe we have to report this, John.
Republicans in Congress are rejecting their own bipartisan bill that will fund our government, support our farmers, and provide necessary relief to parts of our country that have been affected by natural disasters. They're doing all of this with no other plan on how to move forward. Our country is barreling towards a shutdown right before the holidays because Republicans can’t get out of their own way. It’s truly unacceptable.
This rejection didn’t come out of nowhere – they are caving to Elon Musk's and Donald Trump’s threatening and false tweets. Musk is even in favor of leaving the government unfunded until Trump takes office next month.
Point blank: Republicans are acting recklessly with Americans’ lives. When our government shuts down:
→ Individuals might not receive their SNAP benefits, and other critical programs such as federal loans for small businesses cannot be approved,
→ Hardworking government employees such as active-duty military members and TSA workers go unpaid in the middle of the holidays,
→ Our economy would suffer billions in losses,
→ And so much more.
It’s on us to hold these Republicans accountable and show them we won’t stand for a government shutdown. Will you sign our petition right away and tell Republicans to do their job and fund our government right now? Make sure they understand that we cannot afford a shutdown by adding your name today >>
