When Harrison Mendrala joined the Special Olympics movement at just 12 years old, he never imagined he’d still be involved 10 years later as a coach. But as so many of us know, being a part of Special Olympics feels like joining a tight-knit village. The sense of community and belonging – and the rockstar athletes – is why millions of athletes, coaches, and volunteers return year after year. 

As a proud powerlifting coach, every training session is a full-circle moment for Harrison. Watching an athlete with intellectual disabilities (ID) push their limits and build their confidence and character every day is why we’re here. And high-quality and inclusive training and competition equipment is what makes it ALL possible!
