John,
Make no mistake: if given the opportunity, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin will sign a 15-week abortion ban.
He’s made that clear before, which is why we invested in the 2023 Virginia legislative elections, helping secure a pro-choice majority in both chambers and preventing an abortion ban from reaching his desk.
Now, Youngkin is doubling down on his anti-choice agenda: for the third time, he has proposed a budget that would bar Medicaid patients from accessing abortion care, even when diagnosed with severe fetal abnormalities. That’s right—he wants to force low-income patients to carry unviable pregnancies to term.
Virginia has special legislative elections on January 7th, and we’re working to elect pro-choice leaders who will stand up to Youngkin’s extreme views.
These are our first endorsed 2025 candidates, and their races will be our first general elections since Trump’s victory.
We’re rebuilding our reproductive rights state by state because this strategy works. By winning state legislative and judicial races, we’ve helped protect or expand abortion access in states like Michigan and Wisconsin.
The upcoming VA elections are our first of the year, but they won’t be our last. We build pro-choice power by investing in state and local elections every year—not just in even-numbered ones.
Before the week is over, can you support our work with a donation of any amount?
This is our chance to show that our movement is not slowing down or staying home. We’re ready to stay active, engaged, and determined– even staring down the incoming administration. Thank you so much for standing with us.
With gratitude,
