Dear Friend,
Responsibility.org is proud of the continued
progress in our mission to eliminate underage drinking and keep kids
alcohol-free. New
data from the 2024 Monitoring the Future survey reports a
downward trend in underage drinking in the United States.
-
Now more than ever, MOST KIDS, INCLUDING TEENS, DON’T DRINK
ALCOHOL,
-
Binge drinking has reached record low
levels,
-
Peer disapproval of binge drinking is up,
and
-
Ease of access to alcohol has reached an all time
low.
During this season of good tidings, we encourage parents and
caregivers to share these messages with kids because when
conversations about alcohol between parents and kids increase,
underage drinking rates decrease.
Talk to your kids and let them know that underage drinking is
NOT the norm or a right of passage, which may make it easier for them
to say “NO” to peer pressure. Practice ways to refuse a drink or get
out of a difficult situation, make sure they know to never get into a
vehicle with anyone who is drunk or impaired, and always model
responsible behaviors in front of them if or when you choose to
drink.
We at Responsibility.org will continue to invest in effective
risk and prevention
education programs and resources that help to
eliminate underage drinking. Thank you for all you do to contribute
to and support this important cause.
