Friend — they actually did it. The Trump administration has just announced that they will roll back major portions of the Endangered Species Act, making it easier for them to remove species from the list and weakening protections for the species that remain.
We're facing an unprecedented global mass extinction — more than half of ALL species could face extinction by the end of the century.
Please, friend: Extinction is forever. We need your help.
Congress still has a short window to circumvent this doomsday plan before it takes effect. It could be our best hope for helping the most vulnerable species survive the Trump administration.
But it won't happen without a massive public outcry. Right now, members of Congress are back in their districts — and that means the environmental movement needs a major show of force across the country to demand a vote as soon as they get back.
We're gearing up for a big fight to protect endangered species every way we can. But resources are running low and we're turning to our members to help pull this campaign off.
Can we count on your support to fight back? A major donor is triple-matching all contributions right now. Even $5 makes a difference »
The Endangered Species Act is one of our greatest conservation success stories — the law has saved 99% of listed species from extinction. But if we don't act now to stop Trump's attacks, our ability to protect species like the spotted seal, northern spotted owl, and southern sea otter could be completely wrecked. Without the ESA, these critical species will face extraordinary threats like drilling or logging in their habitats.
Friend, if the last few months have showed us anything, it's that when the environmental movement shows up and fights back together, we win.
Earlier this summer, the House of Representatives passed a budget that increases funding for the EPA and environmental programs — a major victory, especially after Trump pushed for a massive 31% cut to the EPA. That wouldn't have happened without the thousands of LCV supporters like you who mobilized against the Trump administration's extreme budget.
It's critical that we show our strength once again. We're running a campaign to flood congressional offices with angry calls and organize across the country so that Congress steps up to make sure the administration can't create a death sentence for America's endangered species. But we can't do it all — not without you.
We're working day in and day out to make sure we can stretch every dollar as far as it can go and win this fight, but
what we really need is for every LCV supporter to step up — right now. That means you, friend.
We need to raise $250,000 by the end of August to keep our work going strong — and if everyone reading this right now pitched in just $5, we'd blow through that goal in minutes.
The best thing you can do to fight back is make an emergency donation to the League of Conservation Voters. Every gift will be triple matched — even $5 helps a lot right now »
With so much at stake, thanks so much for being on our side.
Sincerely,
Gene Karpinski
