DEVELOPING CRISIS IN SYRIA
RUSH SUPPORT TO WOMEN AND GIRLS NOW

RUSH SUPPORT NOW

Crisis is continuing to unfold in Syria, where women and girls live under the constant threat of violence, many face daily hunger, and women risk their lives every day to give birth and care for their families.

For 14 years, civil conflict in Syria has created one of the world’s most dire humanitarian emergencies. Here is where things stand today:

  • 13+ million people have been forced to flee their homes. This amounts to more than half of the country’s population and is the largest displacement crisis in the world. As winter sets in, countless families have been left in the cold and are struggling to survive the freezing temperatures.
  • 90% of Syrians live in poverty and 13 million people are hungry and in need of food assistance.
  • Nearly 500,000 Syrians have returned to the country from Lebanon after conflict erupted there. About half of returning families are headed by a woman and have almost no avenues of securing an income to provide for their families.

Throughout this crisis, our teams have been on the ground providing maternal health services through mobile health clinics and midwives, distributing UNFPA Winter Dignity Kits, and caring for survivors of violence. Will you continue to power this lifesaving work in Syria and crisis settings around the world with a gift today?

Recent developments have brought a renewed sense of hope that the suffering of the Syrian people may finally come to an end.

But in the meantime, needs are still growing and your support is urgently needed as families rebuild their lives.
