Hi John, [link removed] [[link removed]]
This week, once again, we’ve seen the trail of devastation that gun violence creates. It has impacted children and families across Wisconsin, eroding our sense of safety and hindering our collective ability to thrive. That’s why the urgency to prevent gun violence is so clear.
WAVE has generous donors who also feel this weight. Instead of our usual year-end match, they’ve offered to triple every donation between now and the end of this year to ensure we can enter next year with significant momentum. That means when you donate today, your gift will go three times as far. [[link removed]]
In 2024 we received new, fairer election maps, and we know that, right now, Wisconsinites feel the urgency of preventing gun violence as strongly as we ever have. That’s why we feel so confident that 2025 brings Wisconsin greater opportunity for gun violence prevention progress than we’ve seen in years. To meet this critical moment, we wanted to let you know about the updates to our strategic plan.
Here are three adjustments to our strategy based on our new landscape.
We will:
* Focus more heavily on bipartisan cooperation. Wisconsin’s new, more balanced election maps offer many legislators greater motivation to work across the aisle to prioritize the viewpoints their constituents value most.
* Educate legislators about the fine details of gun violence prevention policies. We always work to educate lawmakers, but now it’s important that they are empowered to bring forward the strongest possible versions of the lifesaving bills they introduce.
* Strengthen partnerships in areas such as suicide prevention, domestic violence, and anti-racism. Gun violence overlaps significantly with each of these issues, and working in coalition with other advocate leaders will amplify our collective power.
Triple my donation now! [[link removed]]
We will continue to stand up for evidence-based measures, such as expanding our system of background checks and instituting an extreme risk law. Over 80% of Wisconsinites support these measures, so there is no excuse for our lack of these lifesaving laws.
Help us maximize our efforts by helping us to raise $30,000 before January 1. Make a donation now, and it will be TRIPLED by the end-of-the-year matching fund. [[link removed]]
