Dear John, This year, workers across the country had reason to rejoice: after more than a decade of living and working under Wisconsin's notorious Act 10, which stripped most public sector workers’ collective bargaining rights, the law was overturned. But that victory may be short-lived. Deep-pocketed right-wing donors are gearing up for what's likely to be the most expensive judicial race in history to lock-in an anti-worker majority in the Wisconsin Supreme Court and ensure that Act 10 is reinstated. The law has national ramifications, and has become a symbol of a corrupt political class serving corporate interests instead of citizens' needs. What's more, it has served as a blueprint for anti-union legislation across the country and as a rallying cry for right-wing groups eager to roll back age-old rights protecting collective bargaining. | |
