Click here Hi John, It Gets Better is honored to hold space for veteran journalist, editor, and the reigning face of queer media, Tracy E. Gilchrist, as we welcome her to our Board of Directors. Tracy currently serves as the VP of Editorial and Special Projects at equalpride, where she writes about the powerful intersections of LGBTQ+ equality and pop culture. Previously, she was the Editor in Chief of The Advocate and, before that, served as the landmark queer publication’s first feminism editor. An experienced broadcaster, interviewer, and public speaker, Tracy has presented and moderated on Hollywood red carpets, at film Q&A’s, and has lectured on LGBTQ+ visibility at universities throughout the country. "I am fiercely passionate about the work this incredible organization is doing for queer youth,” Tracy says. “We need to focus our collective energy on reaching queer youth before they’re in crisis, and not wait until it’s too late. This next generation of LGBTQ+ leaders is looking to us to step up, rally around them, and ensure they are well-equipped to pick up the fight for equality. I look forward to using my years of experience in queer media to better advocate for LGBTQ+ youth and I’m honored to do so at an organization that was and is at the forefront of using storytelling to change hearts, minds, and influence progress." Tracy has received multiple GLAAD Media Awards for her writing and editing and was honored as one of AdWeek’s Pride Stars in 2022. In addition to her work, Tracy has been a longtime participant in the AIDS Lifecycle, having joined the ride seven times and raising more than $35K for the organization. Welcome to the Joy Rebellion, Tracy. Queer joy is here to stay, and It Gets Better and LGBTQ+ youth around the globe are lucky to have you. - It Gets Better The It Gets Better Project is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to uplift, empower, and connect lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer youth around the globe.
