Americans are counting on us -- their future and health depends on it.

Chuck Schumer

I know so many of us are being impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak -- but if anything, this response shows how important it is to elect officials who will work hard for us and share the truth. But if you'd prefer to take a break from updates about Senate races in these uncertain times, let us know and we'll unsubscribe you for a few weeks -- because sometimes, we all need a quick break.

Friend,

It should be easy to vote. Period. End of discussion.

In an election year plagued -- literally -- by a global pandemic that's forcing millions of Americans to practice social distancing, self isolate, and stay home? We should not force people to pack into polling places.

Which is why it's incredible to think that we haven't had sweeping federal changes to our voting laws since 1993, when we passed the National Voter Registration Act (or more lovingly referred to as the "Motor Voter Act"). It lets folks register to vote whenever they apply for a driver's license and at any office that provides public assistance.

Today is the 27th anniversary of the passage of that landmark law, and 27 years later we should be doing even more to make it easier to vote: Add your name to join me in calling for expanded voting rights and access right now.

Like so many of you, I was appalled to see that voters in Wisconsin last month were forced to wait in incredibly long lines -- some people waiting until midnight -- to vote in-person when their mail-in options were taken away by the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

That could happen in states across the country this fall unless we demand action now. Voting is our constitutional right, and we should be able to do it without risking our health or our family's health to do it.

Join me in calling for expanded access to the ballot box before this fall's election, on the anniversary of the last time -- 27 years ago!! -- that we tackled voting access: Add your name today.

Sincerely,

Chuck Schumer
