Rally to Support Mushroom Pickers in Burien!

Windmill Mushroom, a major player in the mushroom farming industry, engages in workplace practices that consistently undermine the rights and well-being of its workers. Management under private equity ownership has had devastating impacts on unionized workers, eroded worker protections, driven down wages, and diminished the bargaining power of workers. An injury to one is an injury to all!

Seattle DSA is joining the United Farm Workers of America (UFW) in solidarity with all agricultural workers who face exploitation and intimidation by employers’ insatiable pursuit of profit at all costs. Join mushroom pickers and allied community members tomorrow for a rally at the Burien Safeway as UFW announces the next stage of their campaign.

Starbucks Workers Authorize Strike!

Starbucks Workers United have come a long way since three stores in Buffalo filed for union elections in August 2021. Over 500 stores representing 10,000 workers have now joined their campaign, with more workers voting to join the union each month. They are in the final phase of bargaining their contract, and we need to be ready to support them!

On December 17th, a vote by SBWU members to authorize an unfair labor practice (ULP) strike passed with an overwhelming 98% support. Want to support Starbucks workers on the pickets? Sign up here and we will let you know if the strike starts and where you can go to support them!
