Dear ,
Warm greetings from Allied Media Projects. Our team has recently gathered for our yearly holiday celebration and we are in a time of gratitude for another year together supporting our brilliant network as we welcome winter here in Detroit.
A vital part of being a radical fiscal sponsor is our commitment to honoring the legacy of 20 years of liberatory media-making and ecosystem-building firmly rooted in Detroit. For AMP, being a radical fiscal sponsor in this historical moment has meant clarifying our values and who we are as we face oncoming waves of pressure.
In 2024, we have moved with renewed intention and discernment about how we operate, which sources of support are aligned, and what we are not willing to compromise to protect our people and stay true to our roots.
We enter 2025 firm in our knowledge that as we work toward liberatory practices in Detroit, we connect to the global struggle for justice, using media as a connective tissue for visionary practices toward more just worlds.
We aim to provide our projects with the support they need to thrive so they can bring liberatory futures beyond our current systems. Organizing through our network principles ([link removed]) alongside our projects to support their world-building work is critical to a healthy, thriving ecosystem of media for liberation.
“What if we created vast networks of care and community that render obsolete the systems that are harming us?” – Intelligent Mischief

As we wrap up 2024, we’d like to share this story from Black Bottom Archives and how their work exemplifies our network principle of focusing on strategies rather than issues.
Black Bottom Archives (BBA) ([link removed]) is a community-driven media platform dedicated to centering and amplifying the voices, experiences, and perspectives of Black Detroiters through digital storytelling, journalism, art, and community organizing with a focus on preserving local Black history and archiving the present.
BBA is conducting its Sankofa Community Research project, which includes recording oral histories from Black Bottom community members and descendants. Specifically, BBA is asking them what they would like to see as a form of reparations for the destruction of Black Bottom and Paradise Valley included in the I-375 Reconnecting Communities project.
AMP’s role has been to support BBA in reviewing important contracts and other documents related to the project. Because of our robust administrative infrastructure and resources, AMP is able to provide our projects with the proper legal advice and dedicated review when they take on important initiatives.
You can find out more about BBA’s work and support them directly here. ([link removed])
We invite you to be part of our ecosystem by making a gift or sharing our story with your community. Sign up for our newsletter ([link removed]) to stay connected in 2025 and beyond.
