Team,

What’s one thing that unites Trump’s cabinet picks? Climate denialism.

Many of his top nominees—including his appointments to the Environmental Protection Agency, Interior Department, and Energy Department—notoriously evade questions about climate change or flat out deny that it exists.

Trump’s choice to lead the Energy Department, which has made historic progress on clean energy under Biden, is Chris Wright, a fracking executive who’s on the record saying that extreme weather events are not increasing—a blatant lie.

The anti-science, anti-environment rhetoric from Trump’s proposed cabinet is no coincidence; it’s yet another part of Big Oil’s playbook. That’s why we need Governor Newsom to do everything he can to hold the line on climate advancements.

Will you sign our petition calling on Governor Newsom to ensure California keeps leading in the climate fight—protecting our critical wins and continuing to advance clean energy?

These reckless cabinet picks will very likely set Project 2025 into motion on day one, with devastating consequences for our federal agencies and for climate policy at the national level.

Here’s just a few of the dangerous steps Project 2025 outlines:

*Undermining the EPA and environmental regulations
*Rolling back progress on clean energy initiatives
*Weakening international climate leadership
*Eliminating environmental protections for public lands

And make no mistake, Trump’s climate-denying cronies will have their hands in every part of this—doing everything in their power to deteriorate climate progress and increase handouts to Big Oil.

California is already a global leader in the climate movement; we’ve made groundbreaking strides to clean up pollution, invest in clean energy, and protect frontline communities. Will you tell Governor Newsom to keep California front and center as a climate leader over the next four years?
