In September, the Center for Reproductive Rights participated in the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), engaging global leaders on critical sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) issues.
Here's what we accomplished:
- Provided input on the Pact for the Future, a global framework supporting universal access to SRHR and gender equality
- Met with government and UN officials to address:
- Universal health care and SRHR accountability
- The global impacts of U.S. abortion policies
- Strategies to combat anti-rights movements
Catalina Martínez Coral, Senior Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, participated in a UN Women panel, "Toward an Equal, Just, and Secure World," where she discussed the importance of feminist foreign policy, accountability for SRHR violations, and advancing equity in regions affected by restrictive abortion laws.
Our advocacy at UNGA highlights the global urgency to ensure reproductive rights are upheld and prioritized.
