Yesterday, we convened a panel of experts and hundreds of attendees for a live conversation on the TikTok ban and what it means for everyone’s First Amendment rights as the Trump administration looks to crack down on dissent.

Today, we learned that the Supreme Court will hear arguments from the platform just 10 days before the ban is scheduled to take effect.[1] As we discussed in yesterday’s webinar, we expected this possibility and harbor concerns about the ramifications of a verdict from the nation’s highest court. While we can’t know exactly how the justices will rule, the U.S. legal system has a perilous history of favoring national-security claims over free-speech rights.

In fact, our allies from the Knight First Amendment Institute just filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court, supporting TikTok’s request to freeze the law from taking effect before the justices hear the case. You’ll definitely want to hear what Knight staff attorney George Wang had to say on our call:
