John–
For the gun safety movement, 2024 was all about taking action.
Whether you sent a message to your lawmakers, attended an Advocacy Day, or cast your ballot for Gun Sense Candidates: You are the reason our movement is so strong.
We couldn't do this work without you, so let's take a look back at some of the things we accomplished together this year:
- In state legislatures, we helped pass 107 gun safety policies and defeated 254 gun lobby-backed bills that would've put our communities at risk.
- 333 Moms Demand Action volunteers were elected to office up and down the ballot across the country—nearly 60% are headed to state legislatures, and six are headed to Congress.
- We worked to stop the deadly proliferation of ghost guns, including passing laws in nine states.
- Everytown Law filed its 20th lawsuit to hold the gun industry accountable.
- Students Demand Action launched a new campaign calling out gun industry leaders for their callous disregard for our lives.
- In a life-saving ruling, the Supreme Court confirmed: Domestic abusers under restraining orders do not have a constitutional right to own guns.
- The NRA was held accountable: A jury found the NRA liable for financial mismanagement and certain executives liable for improperly diverting funds to benefit themselves.
And that's just the start: There was SO MUCH more that we accomplished. Over the last decade, we've achieved victories we never dreamed possible because we keep pushing forward—no matter what. And this hard work saves lives.
2025 will be challenging. But challenges are nothing new for our movement, and we've proven that we have the resolve to win tough fights.
Our movement is bigger and stronger than ever: nearly 11 million supporters, more than 850 Students Demand Action groups nationwide, and Moms Demand Action chapters in all 50 states and Washington, D.C.
We've got a lot of people power—but we need you with us in this fight for the year ahead.
Join your local Moms or Students Demand Action chapter to help build a future free from gun violence.
