Hi there, it’s Deborah. Throughout my time in Congress, I’ve been driven by a commitment to create a future in which every person across our district, state, and country has the opportunity to succeed.
That’s why, last week, I was proud to join a group of bipartisan legislators to introduce a bill to help put an end to abuse and sexual violence in sports: The Safer Sports for Athletes Act.
The bill is a bipartisan effort to reinvigorate the U.S. Center for SafeSport’s ability to live up to its name in addressing and preventing abuse in athletics, by improving the investigative process for athlete survivors, revising training guidelines, and providing critical additional funding for SafeSport.
This bill will restore trust, strengthen safeguards, and ensure that our athletes are getting the protection they deserve — but let me be clear: our fight is just getting started.
We need to make it clear that this bill has overwhelming popular support if we want to see it pass through Congress, and I need your help to do that.
Will you add your name to our petition calling on the House of Representatives and the Senate to advance this legislation, and ensure that our sports are free of abuse and sexual violence of all kinds?
Thank you for your support,
Deborah
