Hi team,
In 2024, we had over 113 consecutive days of temperatures above 100 degrees. Here in Phoenix, climate change has arrived, and we’re already adapting to a hotter future.
In addition to the progress we’ve made to reduce our carbon footprint and build climate-resilient infrastructure, the city of Phoenix is heavily investing through a new initiative—the Shade Phoenix Plan — to tackle the effects of extreme heat. |
This initiative includes planting 27,000 trees, building 550 shade structures, and updating our code so there will be more shade where people walk the most.
Ensuring that Phoenix remains resilient and prosperous in the face of climate change is a top priority for Mayor Gallego. Initiatives such as the Shade Phoenix Plan, which will make our city more liveable and comfortable, prove just that.
You can read more about this initiative here. Thank you, Team Kate |
