** Arizona Celebrates Class Of 2020 Graduates

PHOENIX — Governor Doug Ducey declared today, May 20, 2020, Class of 2020 Celebration Day to recognize the thousands of graduating Arizona high school, trade school, community college, and university students.

“Students throughout the state have worked tirelessly to reach the major milestone of graduation,” said Governor Ducey. “These graduates have worked hard to earn their diplomas, certificates and advanced degrees — and many are the first in their family to do so. To all Class of 2020 graduates — Arizona is proud of your success and we wish you the very best in your next endeavor. Congratulations!”

WHEREAS, thousands of Arizona high school, trade school, community college, and university students have achieved a major academic milestone; and

WHEREAS, these students have worked hard to earn diplomas, certificates, advanced degrees, and more; and

WHEREAS, Arizonans should applaud the perseverance and effort of students to achieve these goals and recognize students’ personal pride in graduating; and

WHEREAS, some students are the first in their family to earn a diploma, degree, or credential; and

WHEREAS, our graduates are the backbone of Arizona’s 21st century workforce and future leaders of our state; and

WHEREAS, we face unprecedented times in our local communities and throughout Arizona; and

WHEREAS, many graduates and their loved ones will not be able to participate in traditional graduation ceremonies and celebrations in spring 2020; and

WHEREAS, it is important that our graduates know all of Arizona recognizes their accomplishments, is proud of their successes, and looks forward to their next academic or professional steps; and

WHEREAS, our state encourages Arizonans to improve social connectedness and find unique ways to celebrate the Class of 2020.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Douglas A. Ducey, Governor of the State of Arizona, do hereby proclaim May 20, 2020, as

CLASS OF 2020 CELEBRATION DAY

and encourage all residents to join in safely celebrating Arizona’s graduates.
