Voters, not politicians, should choose who represents them. But in too many places across the country, including in North Carolina, this is no longer the case.

For far too long, Republicans have weaponized the undemocratic procedure known as partisan gerrymandering to rig the system and lock themselves into power — and the consequences have been felt nationwide.

Congress is as polarized as ever. Too many politicians are more concerned with scoring political points than getting things done for their constituents. That’s because they don’t have to worry about being voted out of office. And the government we have today is not what we’d have if our congressional maps were drawn fairly.

Enough is enough, John. Voters are tired of politicians who play political games to rig the maps and ignore the voices of the American people — and I’m tired of it, too. That’s why I’m determined to do something about it.
