John,

Donald Trump isn’t even in the White House yet and he’s already pushing his anti-immigrant agenda, including deporting U.S. citizens and eliminating birthright citizenship.

We’re not surprised, but we are disturbed. These threats to immigrants and their families are terrifying for many, and especially personal to Justice Democrats’ Rep. Delia Ramirez.

Tweet from Delia Ramirez: Congress has failed mixed-status families, immigrants, and Americans for decades. I have a responsibility to inform people and roll up my sleeves to fight for everyone in our communities. Read the full @19thnews article

Delia is a proud daughter of immigrants, the first Latina ever elected to Congress from Illinois, and was the only member of Congress in a mixed-status family when her husband was undocumented.

She’s witnessed too many colleagues in the Democratic Party abandon their values and shift to the right on issues like immigration for the sake of scoring political points. Delia knows first-hand the impacts that dehumanizing anti-immigrant rhetoric has on families like hers, and how harmful these cruel policies would be to millions of people, their communities, and our society as a whole — and she’s ready to fight back.

Tweet from Delia Ramirez: Let’s be clear - Trump is posing the question of who gets to be an American to our nation. Questioning birthright citizenship is anti-American, and eliminating it through executive action is unconstitutional.
