We have a quick update on the abortion amendment:

We are only 21 days away from Virginia’s 2025 legislative session, and we need to be prepared to move fast because session will only be 45 days long!

Things will kick off on Wednesday, January 8, and to stay on track to enshrine abortion rights in the Virginia constitution, we must ensure that the amendment passes on the floor of the VA House and Senate. We will need a simple majority in each chamber to move forward.

The language has officially been set, so all we need to do now is pressure the legislature to act. This will be the next step in a long fight to get this amendment on the ballot.

A constitutional amendment offers the strongest, most permanent protection against efforts to erode or eliminate abortion rights in Virginia. As we’ve seen in other states, when these rights are left unprotected, they can be quickly dismantled through legislation, court rulings, or executive actions. We will need all hands on deck to pull this off.
