Need Help Submitting Your CBOB Nominations?

Use our frequently asked questions page to help you prepare a compelling nomination entry for the 2024 Law Enforcement Congressional Badge of Bravery.   

What constitutes an act of bravery?  

Nominees must have either: 

  • Sustained a physical injury while engaged in the lawful duties of the individual, and performing an act characterized as bravery by the agency head who makes the nomination, and being at personal risk; or 
  • Although not injured, performed an act characterized as bravery by the agency head who makes the nomination that placed the individual at risk of serious physical injury or death. 

Things to keep in mind: 

  • Nominations must be submitted by, or at the approval of, the head of the nominating agency. 
  • Nominations may be submitted for more than one deserving law enforcement officer. 
  • The nomination submission period will close at 5:00 p.m. (ET) on February 15, 2025.

PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICERS' BENEFITS (PSOB) PROGRAM

Enacted in 1976, the PSOB Program provides death, disability, and education benefits to those eligible for the program.
