Thank a Teacher Day

A Message from City Council Leader, Cllr David Mellen:

Cllr David Mellen, leader of Nottingham City Council

Today is ?Thank a Teacher Day.? On behalf of Nottingham City Council I?d like to thank all of the teachers and support staff who have worked tirelessly for the last eight weeks, both in school and in delivering remote learning online and through workbooks, as well as our staff in nurseries and early years settings. I?m proud of the way our city continues to respond to this crisis and we will continue to work closely with schools in the city to understand how we can continue to support them.

I?d also like to thank and recognise the efforts of all the parents in Nottingham who have worked in partnership with their schools to ensure that education carries on over this period.

Watch the video to hear from Cllr Neghat Khan, Portfolio Holder for Early Years, Education and Employment, and children from Fernwood Primary and Nursery School as they celebrate local teachers on Thank a Teacher Day.

Looking after children and young people during the coronavirus outbreak

CAHMS

There is a lot of uncertainty in the world at the moment and this is bound to have an impact on children and young people. Current restrictions will also mean that they are missing family, friends and schoolmates. If you are a parent or carer, it's important you know how to look after the mental health of those you care for during this time. The NHS?s Every Mind Matters: Children and Young People pages have lots of advice and ideas to help us support our loved ones.

Are you worried about the mental health of a young person? Our Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service is still available & still supporting young people. To get help you can make a self-referral - either ring 0115 876 4000 or text 07860 002 131. Find out more about Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service provision
