In one of their final acts of the year, the U.S. Senate is expected to vote this week on legislation aimed at providing full Social Security benefits to millions of Americans.
"We will vote and every Senator will choose. Where are you? Do you stand on the side of public retirees who deserve their benefits, or bungle this golden opportunity by blocking this bill?" Ahead of strike, GWU resident physicians win agreement

Resident physicians at George Washington University Hospital with SEIU CIR called off a strike Monday evening after doctors said they reached a tentative labor deal. They reached the deal after a seven-hour bargaining session Monday and less than 12 hours before hundreds of residents were expected to walk off the job for three days. Read more »

Story Cannabis workers unionize with UFCW Local 400

Workers at Story cannabis dispensary in Hyattsville, Md. announced this week that they voted to unionize with UFCW Local 400.
“Joining together in a union is the best way for us to ensure Story provides fair wages we can live on and benefits we can depend on,” said Oluwademilade “Demi” Adewunmi who has worked at the Hyattsville dispensary for nine months. Read more »

Capital Area Food Bank workers to hold union vote
|
Workers at the Capital Area Food Bank are set to vote to unionize on January 2, 6, and 7. Workers are unionizing with the Washington-Baltimore News Guild, The NewsGuild-CWA Local 32035, and are advocating for fair compensation, a voice in workplace policies, an end to PTO blackouts, and a stronger relationship between warehouse and office staff.
