For the first time in two decades, NO women will lead any committees in the U.S. House of Representatives. According to ABC News, effective Jan. 3rd Republicans have only chosen white men to lead each of the 17 standing committees driving policy in our nation.

This is another troubling sign that women’s issues and women’s rights are in jeopardy. We need women in the rooms where decisions are being made – and we need to defend the hard fought progress of the last century. Second, an extremist MAGA activist and commentator who raised the idea of JAILING women for obtaining an abortion has been appointed to a top policy job in the Trump administration. Ed Martin will serve as Chief of Staff at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), which means he will play a key role in shaping the administration's economic and legislative agenda.

You read that right. Martin, the former chair of the Missouri Republican Party, who has publicly advocated for a NATIONAL abortion ban with NO exceptions and imposing criminal penalties on women and doctors involved in abortions, will play a key role in the Trump administration’s legislative agenda…

We understand the impulse to look away from the news; to bury our heads in the sand and wait out these next four years. But here’s the thing, we owe it to our grandmothers, our mothers, our daughters, and our friends to stay as active as EVER and fight to defend the hard fought progress from the past century.
