How does access to mental health services in shelters affect unhoused children in New York City?
By leveraging a unique Medicaid dataset, a new P4A study examines the intersection of child mental health, homelessness, and the shelter system in New York City. Researchers find that children in shelters were more likely to receive mental health support, and families in shelters with on-site mental health services for children were more likely to stay longer.
