In Donald Trump’s first presidency, we witnessed the cruel separation of
families, increased deportations, and ugly anti-immigrant rhetoric. Before
his second term has even started, Trump is already promising mass
deportations, the deportation of U.S. citizens, and the end of birthright
citizenship once he’s in office.

But Rob is already fighting back on behalf of California’s immigrant
communities.

Today, the Attorney General hosted the first in a series of regional
convenings with immigrant rights groups, elected officials, and others to
share resources, hear concerns, and discuss ongoing efforts to protect
immigrant families across our state.

His office also issued two sets of guidance to help immigrants in
California understand their rights and protections under the law and avoid
scams by those seeking to take advantage of the fear and uncertainty
sparked by President-elect Trump.

In addition, the California Department of Justice updated its model
policies and recommendations to help ensure public institutions like
schools, hospitals, and courts know the best practices in avoiding the use
of state and local resources to support civil immigration enforcement.

Rob knows that immigrants are the backbone of our communities, a driving
force behind our economy, and an essential part of our history as a state.
He is doing everything in his power to protect the rights and well-being
of immigrants, and he WILL take legal action if the Trump administration
breaks the law to enforce its extreme agenda.
