Now, Biden must act

Now more than ever, President Biden has everything he needs to reject all six pending LNG export projects. His own Department of Energy agrees that more LNG export projects are harmful, so add your name now to tell Biden he must use his remaining time in office to protect frontline communities and the climate from the dangerous projects.

Hi there,

We've been pushing hard for the Department of Energy (DOE) to release updated studies that reflect the real harms of liquid "natural" gas (LNG) exports, and today they released those studies.

DOE's analysis confirms what frontline communities living near LNG export terminals and climate advocates have long known: LNG—methane—exports come at too high a cost for energy affordability, public health, and climate.

Take just these two findings from the studies:

An LNG export project similar in size to one that is pending approval "would yield more annual greenhouse gas emissions by itself than 141 of the world’s countries each did in 2023."

"Unconstrained exports of LNG would increase costs for the average American household by well over $100 more per year by 2050."

As DOE Secretary Granholm herself said, the continued pace of LNG exports is "neither sustainable nor advisable."

Big Polluters would have us believe that LNG is good for the economy, but this study underscores what our movement has been saying all along: Doubling down on LNG exports would only make energy bills more expensive for working families.

TELL BIDEN: REJECT ALL PENDING PROJECTS

The fact is that LNG exports poison our families and devastate our climate at every point in their sprawling supply chains. And Gulf communities—already overburdened by toxic air and water pollution—should not be forced to bear the brunt of fossil fuel racism.

Big Polluters are recklessly prioritizing corporate profits over a livable future and the health of our families.

That's why President Biden must use his remaining time in office to reject all pending LNG export authorizations. His own DOE has demonstrated that these projects are dangerous and inadvisable—so he must act now.
