John,
My name is Connor Spence, and I am the President of Amazon Labor Union IBT Local 1.
2 ½ years ago, my co-workers and I organized the first union to win an election at an Amazon warehouse in the United States. Since then, Amazon has fought us tooth and nail, refusing to bargain a contract with us.
They’ve been fined by the National Labor Relations Board, and instead of coming to the table, they’re teaming up with Elon Musk in a lawsuit to get the NLRB declared unconstitutional.
Amazon is one of the wealthiest companies in the world. They can keep us in court for the rest of time.
Ultimately, Amazon only speaks one language, and that’s money. We’re ready to withhold our labor if they continue to ignore their legal obligation to come to the table.
That’s why, during Amazon’s busiest time of year, our union is preparing to participate in a nationally coordinated workplace action. As a part of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, we’re joining many other warehouses nationwide who have also unionized and demanded recognition from this company. Our message is clear: We can’t wait anymore.
Amazon’s founder is the 2nd richest man in the world -- and he has fought organizing efforts tooth and nail.
That’s where you come in. Our union is raising funds to support potential picket solidarity efforts: food, transportation, materials, language interpretation, medical support, cold weather supplies, worker retaliation defense funds, and legal support.

ALU is built on solidarity. Amazon is a massive company, one of the most exploitative in the world. It will take a coordinated, international movement to hold this company accountable. We’ve survived these years thanks to the support of a movement that has been there for us when we asked.
This is a crucial time. Amazon Labor Union is grateful for the support of the Democracy for America Advocacy Fund.
In solidarity,
Connor Spence
President
