Team, yesterday I announced I would be granting clemency to 36 individuals in our state. These pardons and commutations are part of my efforts to address unfairness that has existed in the criminal legal system and establish New Jersey as the state for second chances.

Six months ago, I made a commitment to ensure that individuals involved in the justice system have a second chance to rebuild their lives.

This is just the FIRST round of pardons and commutations — we have much more work to do to prove that redemption is achievable in our country.

As we approach the final year of our Administration, we will continue embracing a fair, impartial, and balanced approach for granting legal relief to New Jerseyans who have earned a second chance.
