Ever since Happy and Patty were torn from their matriarchal herds and natural habitats decades ago, they’ve been unable to live as elephants should. The Bronx Zoo continues to refuse to be transparent about the elephants’ physical and emotional well-being despite the obvious impacts of years of captivity on their bodies and minds. The Bronx Zoo needs to release Happy and Patty to an elephant sanctuary and close the elephant exhibit for good, as they once pledged to do.
On January 11, 2025, the NhRP will co-host a rally at the Bronx Zoo to free Happy and Patty. This event will be part of the International Vigil For Elephants, which takes place every year to honor the elephants who’ve passed away in captivity and help those who remain imprisoned.
No matter where you live, you can help Happy and Patty by sharing their stories and joining us in calling for their freedom–now through January 11th and beyond. To advocate for Happy and Patty right now, use our action alert to send a message to the Bronx Zoo. You can also share the alert with others in your network: |
