John,

The Denver City Council just voted overwhelmingly to end the sale of flavored tobacco products – including flavored e-cigarettes, menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars! Mayor Mike Johnston has indicated that he will sign the ordinance into law, and it will take effect 90 days after his signature.

Denver's bold action will protect kids from nicotine addiction, advance health equity and save lives.

States and cities are leading the way, and Denver joins six states and hundreds of localities across the United States that have cracked down on the sale of flavored tobacco products.

Tobacco companies use flavored products to lure and addict kids and targeted communities.

Over 80% of kids who have ever used tobacco started with a flavored product. In recent years, flavored products have fueled high rates of youth e-cigarette use and nicotine addiction. Tobacco companies have also targeted Black, Latino, LGBTQ+ and other communities with menthol cigarettes, contributing to significant health disparities.

Communities like Denver are setting an example for the country.

By ending the sale of flavored tobacco products, Denver’s leaders are creating a healthier future for kids, families and the entire city.

This victory is the culmination of years of work by our Flavors Hook Kids Denver Coalition. You can support this work to end the sale of flavored tobacco products in communities around the country by making a contribution today.
